Welcome to worship this Pentecost Sunday!

Today we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit—the day God filled ordinary believers with extraordinary power to continue the mission of Jesus in the world. As we continue our series on spiritual gifts, we’re reminded that the Holy Spirit does more than simply give gifts… He also forms Christlike character within us.

The church in Corinth had no shortage of spiritual experiences, but Paul reminds them that gifts without love eventually create noise, division, and confusion. The greatest evidence of spiritual maturity is not how impressive we appear, but how deeply we love. The fruit of the Spirit is what makes the gifts of the Spirit safe.

This morning we will explore what it means to become people shaped by the love of Christ—people who serve humbly, grow patiently, and reflect Jesus to one another and to the world.

Today is also a special day in the life of our church as we receive new members into the family of faith. What a beautiful reminder that the church is not built on spectators, but on a body of believers joined together by the Spirit, each with a purpose and a place.

No matter where you are on your journey today, we are grateful you are here.

All for Him!

Benediction

Life is much more than an accident.  Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there.  Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there.  He has a purpose for me being there - Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am.  I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

The More Excellent Way

1 Corinthians 13

Gifts Without Love Become Noise

Spiritual maturity is measured by love, not visibility.

Love Looks Like Jesus

Christlike love is patient enough to stay and sacrificial enough to serve.

Love Is More Dangerous Than Gifts

God is not only trying to use you—He is trying to transform you.

Love Is What Lasts

Jesus measured greatness by servanthood, not status.

Bottom Line:

The greatest sign of spiritual maturity is not power, but love.

TAKE IT HOME:

The Noise That Love Silences — 1 Cor 13:1–3

Reading: Matthew 7:21–23, Galatians 5:22–26 Where might your words, service, or spiritual efforts be missing the love that gives them meaning?

The Love That Looks Like Jesus — 1 Cor 13:4–7

Reading: John 13:34–35, Luke 10:25–37  Who in your life right now needs patience, kindness, forgiveness, or sacrificial love from you?

The Character That Lasts — 1 Cor 13:8–13

Reading: John 13:1–17, Colossians 3:12–14  Are you spending more energy pursuing recognition and results, or becoming more like Christ?
