Welcome to Worship!

Have you ever gone out of your way to help someone, only to be criticized or taken for granted? It's frustrating when we try to do what's right and end up being treated unfairly.

And if we're not careful, that frustration can turn into anger, bitterness, or a desire to get even. We may even convince ourselves that our response is justified because of what someone else did to us.

But does being treated wrong give us the right to do wrong?

Today, as we continue our STAND FIRM series in 1 Peter 2:18–25, we'll discover how Jesus responded when He was treated unjustly. He didn't retaliate. Instead, He trusted His Father, who judges justly.

Peter reminds us that Jesus didn't just show us how to respond. He gave His life to free us from sin so that we could live differently.

My prayer is that today's message will challenge each of us to examine our hearts, surrender our hurts to God, and allow His grace to change how we respond to others.

We're glad you're worshiping with us today!

All for Him!

Message Notes

When Life Isn't Fair

1 Peter 2:18-25

Doing Right Doesn't Guarantee Being Treated Right

Stop measuring your faithfulness by how other people respond to it.

Being Wronged Doesn't Give Us Permission to Do Wrong

Entrust the person, the offense, and the outcome to God.

Jesus Gives Us the Grace to Live Differently

Stop defending the resentment and surrender it to Jesus.

Big Idea:

Someone else's wrong doesn't make my wrong right.

Take it Home

MONDAY: Doing Right Isn't Always Rewarded — 1 Peter 2:18–20 We won't always be appreciated or treated fairly when we do what's right. But God sees our faithfulness, even when others don't.

Prayer: Father, help me keep doing what's right, even when I'm overlooked or mistreated. Remind me that pleasing You matters more than receiving recognition. Amen.

TUESDAY: Don't Repay Wrong with Wrong — 1 Peter 2:21–22 Someone else's wrongdoing doesn't excuse our own. Jesus calls us to follow His example, even when others treat us unfairly.

Prayer: Jesus, forgive me when I use someone else's behavior to justify my own. Help me respond with the same love and patience You have shown me. Amen.

WEDNESDAY: Trust God with the Outcome — 1 Peter 2:23 Jesus didn't retaliate when He was mistreated. He trusted His Father to judge justly. We can surrender our hurts to God instead of trying to get even.

Prayer: Father, You know the ways I've been hurt. Help me release my resentment and trust You with the people and situations I cannot control. Amen.

THURSDAY: Let Grace Change Your Heart — 1 Peter 2:24 Jesus bore our sins so we could die to sin and live for righteousness. His grace doesn't just forgive us; it changes how we respond to others.

Prayer: Jesus, search my heart for bitterness, pride, and unforgiveness. Let Your grace change me from the inside out so I can respond more like You. Amen.

FRIDAY: Follow the Shepherd — 1 Peter 2:25 We once wandered from God, but Jesus brought us back to Himself. As our Shepherd, He continues to guide us toward a life that reflects His character.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for bringing me back to You. Help me trust Your leading, surrender my hurts, and follow in Your steps, especially when it's difficult. Amen.
