Worship Program - 9/6/26

Welcome to worship!
Most of us know from living in a small community, folks know you and your family. They remember your stories. And sometimes they remember the parts you would rather forget.
Peter probably understood that feeling. He loved Jesus, but he had a history. He said things he shouldn't have said. He acted before he thought. He promised Jesus he would never leave Him—and then denied that he even knew him three times.
Everybody knew Peter's story, including Jesus. And Jesus never gave up on him.
Years after Jesus restored Peter and ascended, Peter wrote to Christians living in communities where following Jesus was becoming increasingly difficult. They faced pressure, rejection, uncertainty, and suffering. Peter told them: Don't give up. Stand firm.
We live a long way from those first Christians, but we know what it is to live in a changing world. We struggle. We fail. We worry about what's coming next. Sometimes we wonder how our faith fits into the world around us.
This fall, we're going to walk through Peter's letter and discover what Peter learned: Our hope isn't that we'll always get it right. Our hope is Jesus.
Whatever this season holds, Peter's encouragement is still good advice: Stand firm.
All for Him!

ELECT Exiles
1 Peter 1:1; Philippians 3:20; Hebrews 11:13–16
We may not always feel at home in this world, but we belong to God.
CHOSEN by Grace

1 Peter 2:9–10; Romans 8:31–39; 1 Peter 5:12
Our failures, circumstances, and labels don’t define us. In Christ, we are chosen.
Big Idea:
I can stand firm because I know whose I am.
Take it Home
Identity in Christ 1 Peter 1:1-2
Before Peter tells believers what to do, he reminds them who they are: chosen, loved, and set apart by God.
Prayer: Father, remind us that we are chosen, loved, and set apart by You. Help us live from our identity in Christ, not from shame, fear, or the approval of others. Amen.
Endurance Through Suffering 1 Peter 1:6-7
Trials do not erase our hope; they refine our faith and reveal the strength Christ is building in us.
Prayer: Lord, strengthen us in every trial. Give us faith that endures, hope that holds, and courage to honor You even when life is hard. Amen.
Holiness and Spiritual Transformation 1 Peter 1:15-16
God does not simply forgive us and leave us unchanged; He calls us and empowers us to become more like Jesus.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, change us from the inside out. Set apart our thoughts, desires, words, and actions so that our lives reflect the holiness of Jesus. Amen.
Relationships and Marriage 1 Peter 3:8-9
The clearest evidence of our faith is often seen in how we treat the people closest to us.
Prayer: Jesus, teach us to love with humility, patience, and compassion. May our homes, marriages, friendships, and relationships reflect Your grace and peace. Amen.
Public Witness in a Hostile World 1 Peter 2:11-12
As strangers in this world, our lives should point beyond this world to the goodness and glory of God.
Prayer: God, help us live faithfully as strangers in this world. Give us integrity, courage, and gentleness so that our lives point others to You. Amen.
