Welcome to worship this morning!

Today, we begin a brand-new series focused on the work of the Holy Spirit and the spiritual gifts God has given His Church. For many people, this can feel like a confusing or even intimidating topic—but it was never meant to create fear or division. These gifts were given to help us grow, serve, love others well, and continue the mission of Jesus in the world.

This week, we begin by looking at the life of Jesus Himself. Before He preached, healed, or ministered to others, Scripture tells us He was empowered by the Holy Spirit. That matters, because it reminds us that the Christian life was never meant to be lived in our own strength.

My prayer today is that you would be encouraged to see that God not only calls ordinary people—He empowers them. The same Spirit who worked through Jesus is still at work in His people today.

Thank you for being here today. If you have any questions or would like to get connected, we would love to hear from you. You can reach the charge office at 410-639-2144 or email me directly.

May today’s worship remind us that we are not alone, and that God still works through willing hearts surrendered to Him.

All for Him!

Benediction

Life is much more than an accident.  Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there.  Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there.  He has a purpose for me being there - Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am.  I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

Jesus Modeled Dependence on the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit Empowers Mission

The Spirit Forms Character, Not Just Ability

The Church Continues the Ministry of Jesus

Bottom Line:

We can only live like Jesus,

 with the Spirit of Jesus.

TAKE IT HOME:

The Spirit That Empowers - Luke 4:14  Where have you been trying to live the Christian life in your own strength instead of depending on the Holy Spirit?

The Mission That Continues - Luke 4:18–19  Who around you needs the hope, encouragement, healing, or compassion of Jesus right now—and how might God want to use you to serve them?

The Character That Reflects Jesus - Galatians 5:22–23  Which fruit of the Spirit do you most need God to grow in your life during this season?

The Gifts That Build the Church - 1 Corinthians 12:4–7  What abilities, passions, or opportunities might God be using to reveal how He wants you to serve others?

The Life That Walks With God - John 15:5  What spiritual practice—prayer, Scripture, silence, worship, service, or community—could help you stay more connected to Jesus this week?

This Week's Announcements:

Daily Devotional Reading:

Wake-Up Call provides a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus who transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.
