Welcome to Worship!
We are so glad you’ve joined us today. Whether this is your first visit or you’ve been part of our church family for years, it is a joy to worship alongside you.
Today, in our study of the life of David, we come to one of the most difficult seasons in his story — a season filled with loss, regret, and unexpected turns. In 2 Samuel 12:15–31, David’s path takes a painful detour, yet we see how God’s sovereign plan, unshakable love, and call to obedience remain steady. Our bottom line today is this: My past will remind me, but it will not define me. Together, we’ll learn how to keep moving forward when life doesn’t go as planned.
As a Global Methodist congregation, we believe God calls His people to live out three key discipleship practices:
Worship Passionately: Worship is more than music; it’s trusting and honoring God even in the detours.
Love Extravagantly: Just as God’s love covered David’s failures, we are called to extend grace to others.
Witness Boldly: Our past may remind us, but in Christ it doesn’t define us — and that’s worth sharing.
Thank you for being part of our worship today. My prayer is that what we share together will inspire you to trust God’s plan, rest in His love, and take your next step in obedience. If you have questions about faith or want to talk more, I’d love to hear from you. You can reach me at the church office at 410-639-2144, or simply use the question cards provided in the pews.
In Christ,
Pastor Gary

David #26: When Life Takes a Detour
2 Samuel 12:15-31
When Life Takes You on a Detour:
Remain CONFIDENT OF GOD'S SOVERIEGN PLAN
"Your detour may change your route, but it doesn’t change God’s map."
Don’t DOUBT GOD'S UNCOMPARABLE LOVE
"God’s love is bigger than your worst chapter."
Focus ON PERSONAL OBEDIENCE
"Don’t camp in the detour — keep driving toward your calling."
Bottom Line:
“My past can remind me but it won’t define me.”
Daily Devotional Reading:
Wake-Up Call provides a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus who transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.
