Welcome to worship!
Whether you've been part of our church family for years or this is your very first visit, we're thankful you've chosen to worship with us.
One of the greatest privileges we have as followers of Jesus is knowing that God has not left us to figure out life on our own. He has given us His Word, His Spirit, and the gift of the Church to guide us as we seek to follow Him.
This week we continue our Spiritual Gifts series by exploring the gift of prophecy. For some, this topic brings curiosity and excitement. For others, it raises questions or even memories of times when spiritual gifts were misunderstood or misused. Wherever you find yourself today, our desire is simply to open the Scriptures together and discover what God has to say.
The Bible reminds us that God still leads His people. As we learn about this gift, we'll also discover the importance of testing everything by God's Word and seeking His wisdom together. Our goal isn't to become fascinated with extraordinary experiences, but to become people who faithfully listen for the voice of our Good Shepherd and courageously follow where He leads.
Our prayer is that this week's message will encourage you to slow down, seek God's direction with greater confidence, and trust that God guides those who are willing to listen.
Thank you for worshiping with us. It is a joy to seek Jesus together.
All for Him!
Pastor Gary

Life is much more than an accident. Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there. Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there. He has a purpose for me being there - Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am. I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

Hearing God Together: The Gift of Prophecy
What Is Prophecy?
Eph 4:11; 1 Cor 12:8–10; Rom 12:6; 1 Cor 14:3
Prophecy is a Spirit‑given, situational message from God, in our own fallible words, meant to strengthen, encourage, comfort, correct, and convict.
How Is It Different from Scripture & Teaching?
1 Thess 5:19–21; 2 Tim 3:16; 1 Cor 14
Scripture is God’s perfect, final authority; prophecy is a real but fallible gift that must always be weighed and tested, not treated as Bible‑level truth.
The Dark Side – When We Get It Wrong
Acts 20–21; 1 Cor 14:29–33
Prophecy goes wrong when we crave being heard more than obeying God, assume past words still apply without fresh listening, or refuse correction and testing.
How Do We Test Prophecy?
1 Thess 5:21
We test every word by Scripture first, then with wise reason, the historic faith of the church, and the confirming work of the Spirit in our community.
Our Response – Personally and As a Church
1 Cor 14:1, 3, 39–40
We pursue love first, eagerly desire spiritual gifts—especially prophecy—and welcome prophetic ministry in a way that is biblical, humble, and never untested.
Bottom Line:
“God guides those who are willing to listen.”

5-Day Devotional and Prayer Focus
The Power Gifts — Prophecy
Day 1 – Purpose of Prophecy
Read: 1 Corinthians 14:1–5
Reflect: How have I misunderstood prophecy? Where do I need strengthening, encouragement, or comfort?
Prayer: Holy Spirit, help me see prophecy as Your gift to build up others, not to impress anyone. Amen.
Day 2 – Scripture Above All
Read: 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 1 Thessalonians 5:19–21
Reflect: Do I submit all “words” to Scripture? Have fear or past hurts made me dismiss prophecy?
Prayer: Lord, keep me rooted in Your Word while welcoming and testing the Spirit’s voice. Amen.
Day 3 – When We Add Our Spin
Read: Acts 21:10–14
Reflect: Where might I be adding fears or preferences to what God has said?
Prayer: Jesus, guard me from twisting Your guidance. Help me listen carefully and obey You, not my agenda. Amen.
Day 4 – Testing Together
Read: 1 Corinthians 14:29–33
Reflect: How do I respond when what I think I hear from God is questioned? Who helps me discern?
Prayer: God of peace, give me humility to welcome correction so true words can build others up. Amen.
Day 5 – Eager but Wise
Read: 1 Corinthians 14:1, 39–40
Reflect: Am I more likely to shut down or blindly accept prophetic gifts? Why?
Prayer: Father, help me pursue love first and eagerly desire Your gifts, using them in ordered, biblical ways. Amen.
