Welcome to worship this morning.
Today, we are returning to an ongoing series, walking through some foundational truths of our faith—what we believe about the Bible, the Church, worship, and our Wesleyan heritage. These aren’t just ideas to understand; they shape how we live, how we love, and how we follow Jesus.
For the next two weeks, we’re turning our focus to the Gospel itself.
Today, we begin with Humanity and Sin—not as a heavy topic, but as a necessary one. Because if we don’t rightly understand what’s gone wrong in us and in our world, we won’t fully grasp the beauty and power of what God has done for us in Christ.
My prayer is simple: that we would see ourselves clearly, not with shame, but with honesty—and that it would prepare our hearts to receive the grace we’ll celebrate next week.
We hold the Gospel dear. These two weeks are about helping us understand why.
Thank you for being here today. If you have any questions or would like to get connected, we would love to hear from you. You can reach the charge office at 410-639-2144 or use the question cards in the pews.

May today’s time of worship help you move from hearing to doing, and from knowing about Jesus to building your life on Him.
All for Him!

Life is much more than an accident. Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there. Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there. He has a purpose for me being there - Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am. I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

Thirty Minute Theology: The Gospel
Pt 1 - Humanity and Sin
Genesis 3:1-13
Thirty Minute Theology: The Gospel
Pt 1 - Humanity and Sin
Genesis 3:1-13
Created in God’s Image
Genesis 1:26–27, Psalm 139:13–14
You were created with dignity, purpose, and value.
Designed for Relationship with God
Genesis 1:28, Genesis 2:15, Matthew 22:37–39
You were made to love God, love others, and reflect Him.
Distorted by Sin
Genesis 3:1–7, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 53:6
Sin has twisted what God made good and affects every part of us.
Restored Through Jesus
Colossians 1:15–22, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 8:29
Only Jesus can restore what sin has distorted.
Bottom Line:
Sin doesn’t make you more human—it makes you less.
TAKE IT HOME:
Remember Who You Were Created to Be
Read Genesis 1:26–28 and Psalm 139:13–14. What does it mean to you that you are made in God’s image? How might your view of yourself—or others—change if you truly believed this?
Recognize What Sin Has Done
Read Genesis 3:1–7 and Romans 3:23. Where do you see the effects of sin in your own life (thinking, choices, relationships)? In what ways have you been “aiming at the wrong target” or settling for less than God’s design?
Respond to the Hope of Restoration
Read Colossians 1:21–22 and 2 Corinthians 5:17. What stands out to you about what Jesus has done for you? What is one step you can take this week to follow Jesus more closely and reflect His image?
Prayer Prompt:
Ask God to help you see yourself clearly—both your dignity as His creation and your need for His grace—and to begin restoring what sin has distorted.

Monday – Designed for You: Lord, draw our hearts back to You. Teach us to love You fully and to live as You created us to live—in relationship with You and others. Matthew 22:37
Tuesday – Acknowledging Our Sin: Jesus, open our eyes to the reality of our sin. Help us not to minimize it, but to see clearly our need for Your grace. Romans 3:23
Wednesday – Hearts Made Right: Father, search our hearts and reveal what is bent or broken within us. Begin to reshape us according to Your truth. Jeremiah 17:9
Thursday – Restoring What’s Broken: Lord, we confess that sin has distorted our lives. Begin restoring what has been broken in us and around us. Isaiah 53:6
Friday – Becoming More Like Jesus: Holy Spirit, conform us to the image of Christ. Teach us to live, love, and respond the way He did. Romans 8:29
