Welcome to Worship
We’re so glad you’ve joined us for worship today. This Sunday is a special moment in the life of our church as two seasons meet. We come to the end of our journey through the life of David—a story filled with triumphs, failures, faith, and the unending grace of God. And at the very same time, we step into the season of Advent, a season that reminds us that every longing in Scripture, every unanswered question, and every search of the human heart ultimately leads us to Jesus.
As we close out David’s life this morning, we see again that even a great king couldn’t give God’s people the confidence and security they longed for. And as Advent begins, we’re invited to lift our eyes toward the One who can. Advent is a season of hope, of waiting, of looking for the Light that breaks through every darkness.
Whether you’re here every week or joining us for the first time, I pray that today you sense God’s presence, hear His Word, and find renewed hope as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.
We’re glad you’re here. Welcome.
In Christ,
Pastor Gary

Life is much more than an accident. Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there. Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there. He has a purpose for me being there - Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am. I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

Sermon Outline
DAVID #38: The Search Continues
2 Samuel 24:1-25
We love to count what we have; God cares that we remember Who gave it.
Prosperity is a gift to enjoy with gratitude, not a score to measure ourselves by.
2 Sam 24:1–10, Deut 8:10–18, Psa 24:1, James 1:17, 1 Tim 6:17, Luke 12:16–21
We start to count on our blessings; God is jealous to be the One we count on.
When our security shifts from the Giver to the gifts, God lovingly exposes our idols.
2 Sam 24:11–15, Ex 34:14, Psa 20:7, Jer 2:13, Matt 6:24, James 4:4–5
In the end, what really counts is worship that costs us something.
God turns dangerous prosperity back into blessing when we offer it back to Him in costly obedience.
2 Sam 24:18–25, Rom 12:1, Luke 9:23, 2 Cor 5:15, 2 Cor 8:1–5, Luke 1:38
Bottom Line:
“Prosperity is a blessing—until it’s not.”
TAKE IT HOME:
Continuing the search… this week.
Deut. 8:10–14
Where have I begun relying on what I have instead of Who gave it?
What daily blessing do I need to thank God for this week?
Ps. 20:7
What “chariots or horses” am I tempted to count on for security right now?
How would my prayers change if God became my first confidence again?
2 Sam. 24:24
What step of obedience is God asking of me that may cost something?
How could this Advent be a season of trusting Him more than my comfort?
