June 13th Worship Program

Thank you for joining us for worship this weekend.

Today, we continue a new message series THE LIFE.

Everyone loves a Rags to Riches story. We are inspired when people overcome what may seem like insurmountable odds to achieve great things for themselves and those around them. The story of Joseph is one of those stories... sort of. In fact there is a better one and Joseph points us to it.

I pray that your participation in today's worship helps you move closer to Jesus and reveals more of his plan for your life.

Merger Prayer Focus: Needing workers

One of the major hindrances to growing as a new church is the lack of workers. As the church launches new ministries to reach new people in the mission field, an adequate number of passionate workers need to be in place.

  1. Pray that God would bring people to fill the gaps. Matt 9:37-38

  2. Pray for new teachers. James 3:1

  3. Pray for more youth and children workers. Matt 19:14

  4. Pray God would bring young adult workers. 1 Cor 12:7

  5. Pray God would bring tech people. 1 Cor 12:27

  6. Pray that God would bring more musicians. Psalm 150

  7. Pray that God would bring diversity in workers. Eph 2:13-16

Take it Home:

Read Genesis 41:14-16 and 41:37-45

What events took place in Joseph’s life to bring him to this moment where he is called by Pharaoh to interpret the dreams and placed into a position of power? Spend some time remembering Joseph’s story and how he ended up in the right place at the right time for a moment such as this.

What was going to happen to Egypt according to Pharaoh’s dream and Joseph’s interpretation? What was Joseph’s suggested plan? What qualified Joseph to be put into this position of power?

Pharaoh claims to see the Spirit of God in Joseph. This is the first time in Genesis that God’s Spirit is said to be in someone. If we believe the good news of the gospel, this truth is also true of followers of Jesus today. Look at Ephesians 2:11 and John 14:15-17. Because of the plan of God and the Spirit of God, Joseph is brought to a place of power to use his power to help and bless a broken and hurting world. What are some ways that God chooses to use his people to be a blessing to a hurting world?

An important part of Joseph’s life is remember the faithfulness of God. Joseph could have looked at his life circumstances with a different perspective on these events, but he praises God for the hardship he faced. How did he commemorate God’s faithfulness? How can followers of Jesus similarly celebrate God’s faithfulness today?
