Welcome to worship.

We’re really glad you’re here today. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or you’ve been part of this church family for years, it matters that you’re here, and we don’t take that for granted.

Today we gather to celebrate Easter—the day that centers everything we believe. It’s the day we remember that Jesus didn’t stay in the grave, but rose again. Not just as a powerful idea or inspiring story, but as a living Savior.

For many, Easter is familiar. We’ve heard the story, sung the songs, and know the details. But the first Easter wasn’t polished —it was confusing, unexpected, and deeply personal. The people closest to Jesus didn’t immediately understand what had happened. They had to come to recognize that He was truly alive.

And in many ways, that’s still where people find themselves today. It’s possible to know the story of Jesus and still wonder what it really means. It’s possible to understand the facts and still be searching for something more.

Today is an invitation—not just to remember what happened, but to consider what it means now. Because if Jesus is alive, that changes everything. It means hope is real, forgiveness is possible, and life doesn’t have to be defined by the past. So whether your faith feels strong, uncertain, or somewhere in between—God has something for us all today.

Thank you again for being here. If you have any questions about the church or would like to learn more about how to get connected, we’d love to talk with you. You can reach the church office at 410-639-2144 or use the question cards in the pews.

We’re praying that today’s time of worship helps you take one step closer to seeing and knowing the risen Jesus.

Sermon Outline

Do You See Him?

Luke 24:13-35

You Can Know the Story and ___________________

John 5:39–40, Mark 6:3–6, James 2:19

Knowing about Jesus is not the same as knowing Him.

You Can Hear the Truth and ________________________

Matthew 13:13–15, Hebrews 4:2, John 2:23–25

Hearing truth can stir your heart, but only faith changes your life.

Jesus Is Known When He _________________________

Luke 24:45, 2 Corinthians 4:6, Acts 16:14

You don’t come to see Jesus on your own—He opens your eyes so you can.

Bottom Line:

Don’t just know about Jesus, know Him.

TAKE IT HOME:

Don’t just know about Jesus—know Him.

  1. Luke 24:19–21 - Where might you be missing Jesus? Are there areas of your life that don’t look different from people who don’t know him at all?  Have your expectations shaped how you see Him?

  2. Luke 24:25–27 - Are you letting Scripture change you—or just inform you?  God’s Word doesn’t just explain Jesus—it reveals Him. Yes - How? No - What’s keeping me from getting to know God better?

  3. Luke 24:30–31 - Has Jesus become personally real to you? Have you moved from knowing → recognizing?

  4. Luke 24:32–35 - What in my life needs to change if Jesus is truly alive? Real recognition leads to real movement.

You can know the story… and still miss the Savior.

Monday – From Knowing to Believing: Lord, move us beyond information into living faith. Help us not just understand the truth, but trust You with our lives. John 20:29

Tuesday – Shaped by Your Word: Father, as we read Your Word, let it awaken our hearts. Teach us to see Jesus in all of Scripture and grow our faith through it. Luke 24:27

Wednesday – Honest Hearts: Lord, search our hearts and reveal where we’ve held onto wrong expectations or quiet disappointment. Lead us into deeper trust in You. Psalm 139:23–24

Thursday – Recognizing Your Presence: Jesus, help us recognize You in the ordinary moments of life. Train our hearts to see You at work in ways we often overlook. Luke 24:30–31

Friday – A Burning Heart: Holy Spirit, stir our hearts with truth. Let our passion for Jesus grow as we walk with Him and hear His voice through Scripture. Luke 24:32
