Welcome to Worship

We’re so glad you’ve joined us for worship today. As we come near the end of our journey through the life of David, we turn to his final words in 2 Samuel 23—a closing reflection from a man who didn’t live perfectly, but finished faithfully.

These verses are more than a farewell; they’re David’s testimony. Looking back over a life of victories and failures, he speaks not about his strength, but about God’s grace. He reminds us that the same God who raised him up, ruled over him, and remained faithful through every season is the God who still holds our lives together today.

Whether you’re just beginning your walk with God or you’ve followed Him for decades, this message is for you. Because finishing well doesn’t come from getting everything right—it comes from trusting the One who never fails.

As we worship, I invite you to listen for the steady rhythm of God’s faithfulness in your own story. Sing freely, pray honestly, and let His Spirit renew your confidence that the best finish begins with a faithful God.

Welcome home—let’s worship together.

In Christ,

Pastor Gary

Benediction

Life is much more than an accident.  Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there.  Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there.  He has a purpose for me being there - Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am.  I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

Message Notes

DAVID #37: The Faithful Finish

GOD — David’s Final Picture (2 Samuel 23:1–7)

WHO WE ARE — Raised Up by Grace (v 1-2)

I am not who I’ve __________ to be, but who __________ has made me to be.

You didn’t climb here—God carried you here.

WHAT WE DO — Ruled by Righteousness (v 3-4)

Wherever God places me, I’m called to lead with __________ and the __________  the Lord.

Righteous leadership makes life brighter for everyone around you.

HOW WE DO IT — Resting in God’s Covenant Faithfulness (v 5-7)

My __________ is not in what I can do, but in what __________ has promised to do.

God finishes what He starts.

Bottom Line:

Life only makes sense when you see your small piece in God’s big picture.

TAKE IT HOME: The Faithful Finish

God My Foundation

Read: 1 Samuel 16:11–13; Ephesians 2:4–6

David never forgot that God raised him up from humble beginnings. Where have you seen God lift you from weakness, fear, or failure? What part of your story reminds you that God’s grace—not your effort—is your foundation? How can you help someone else see how God is “raising them up” this week?

God My Guide

Read: Micah 6:8; Psalm 111:10

David learned that leadership begins with being ruled by God. What does “ruling in the fear of the Lord” look like in your daily life—as a parent, grandparent, friend, or coworker? Where are you tempted to lead by pressure or pride instead of reverence and righteousness? How might your words and actions bring light and renewal—like the morning sun—to someone around you this week?

God My Promise Keeper

Read: 2 Samuel 7:8–16; Philippians 1:6

David’s confidence wasn’t in himself but in God’s covenant faithfulness. Where do you need to rest instead of strive—trusting that God will finish what He started? What promise from Scripture do you need to hold onto today? How can remembering God’s unbreakable covenant help you endure through difficulty or doubt?

Daily Devotional Reading:

Wake-Up Call provides a daily encouragement to shake off the slumber of our busy lives and turn our eyes toward Jesus. Each morning our community gathers around a Scripture, a reflection, a prayer, and a few short questions, inviting us to reorient our lives around the love of Jesus who transforms our hearts, homes, churches, and cities.
