Welcome to worship.

We’re glad you’re here—whether you’ve been part of this church for years, you’re joining us again after some time away, or today is your very first visit. Wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith, we believe God has something for you today.

In a world that often feels divided, hurried, and noisy, Jesus speaks words that are both challenging and deeply hopeful. In the Sermon on the Mount, He invites us beyond surface-level religion into a faith that begins in the heart and works its way outward—into our relationships, our choices, and the way we live with one another.

Today we’ll hear Jesus say, “Blessed are the pure in heart… Blessed are the peacemakers… Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake.” These words aren’t meant to discourage us or weigh us down. They are an invitation—to a life shaped by God’s presence, marked by love, and grounded in a hope that holds even when life is difficult.

As we worship together, our prayer is simple: that God would meet us here, speak to us personally, and continue His good work of shaping our hearts and lives into the likeness of Christ.

May you know His peace, His presence, and His grace today.

In Christ,

Pastor Gary

Benediction

Life is much more than an accident.  Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there.  Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there.  He has a purpose for me being there - Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am.  I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

Sermon Outline

From the Heart to the World

Matthew 5:8-12

How God’s Kingdom Moves Through a Life

Pure Hearts See God:God doesn’t start by fixing behavior—He starts by claiming the heart.

Psalm 24:3–4, Jeremiah 31:33, Matthew 5:8, Hebrews 12:14, 1 John 1:7

Takeaway:Purity of heart isn’t about perfection—it’s about an undivided loyalty that lets us recognize God at work in every part of life.

Changed Hearts Make Peace:When God rules the heart, peace becomes our posture.

Matthew 5:9, Romans 12:18, Ephesians 2:14–16, Colossians 3:12–15, James 3:17–18

Takeaway:Peacemaking isn’t passive or weak—it’s active love that reflects the family resemblance of the children of God.

Faithful Hearts Face Resistance:A life shaped by God’s kingdom will never blend quietly into the world.

Matthew 5:10–12, John 15:18–20, 2 Timothy 3:12, 1 Peter 4:12–14, Philippians 1:29

Takeaway:Opposition doesn’t mean God is absent—it often means His kingdom is being made visible.

Steadfast Hearts Reflect Christ:The final test of holiness is love that endures under pressure.

Matthew 5:44–48, Romans 12:17–21, Luke 6:27–28, 1 Peter 2:21–23, Galatians 6:9

Takeaway:Christlike love doesn’t retreat in conflict—it remains faithful, generous, and grounded in hope.

Bottom Line:

God changes the world by transforming our hearts.

Closing Prayer:

Gracious God,

Purify our hearts so we may see You clearly. Shape us into peacemakers who reflect Your love in a divided world. Give us courage to remain faithful when obedience is costly, and grace to respond with humility, mercy, and hope. May our lives bear witness to Your kingdom, from the inside out, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Join us in focused and specific prayer for our church, our community, and our world. Be prepared to see God do great things as we collectively turn to Him in prayer.

Sunday – Our Witness:  Jesus, shape our hearts by Your grace so our lives reflect Your love. Make us steady, hungry for what is right, and rich in mercy, that others may see You through us. Matthew 5:16

Monday – Our Meekness:  Lord, quiet our striving and reactions. Bring our hearts under Your rule, that strength may be guided by trust and our lives shaped by Your will. Psalm 37:11

Tuesday – Our Hunger: God of life, awaken in us a deep hunger for righteousness. Free us from lesser desires and fill us with Your Spirit, truth, and holiness. Matthew 5:6

Wednesday – Our Mercy: Merciful Father, soften our hearts toward others. Teach us patience, kindness, and forgiveness, so Your grace may flow through us in love. Luke 6:36

Thursday – Our Church: Lord, form our church into a people shaped by grace. Unite us in humility, deepen our love, and let mercy mark all we do together. Colossians 3:12–13

Friday – Our Nation: Righteous God, heal our divided land. Replace anger with meekness, pride with humility, and injustice with mercy, that Your peace may take root among us. Micah 6:8
