November 26th Worship Program

Welcome to Church!

This is a very special weekend and we are glad to have you worship with us. As we gather, I want to make sure you know how grateful we are to have you worship with us. It's a joy to worship alongside friends and neighbors as we share this journey of faith.

This weekend, we celebrate Christ the King Sunday. It’s the last Sunday of the year in the church calendar. Everything we have done this year has been building up to this Sunday. As part of our celebration, we will be taking a moment to celebrate our new relationship as part of the Global Methodist Church. We will be talking about what that means during our services the next several weeks.

We are also continuing our study from the book of Acts, The Unstoppable Power of the Gospel. Today we find Peter preaching to a crowd in the temple about one of the most important gifts God has given us as his children, a gift that we need to use often.

After the service, take a few minutes to engage friends and neighbors in conversation, or spend some time in prayer. We hope you find our church is not just a place of worship but a community of support and love.

Thank you for being a part of our family today, and may our worship together this weekend be a source of inspiration, reflection, and connection in your relationship with Jesus. If you have any questions or want to discuss your faith journey, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly. My office telephone is 410-639-2144, or just shoot me an email.

Richest Blessings!

Closing Worship Benediction

Life is much more than an accident. Wherever I go, I believe God needs me there. Wherever I am, I trust God has put me there. He has a purpose for me being there -

Christ, alive in me, wants to do something through me, no matter where I am.

I believe this and go in His grace and His love and His power.

If you would like someone to pray with you, please come and meet one of our ministry leaders at the end of the service.

Message Text

Acts 3:11-26

The Gift that Keeps On Giving

What it is not:

“I feel that what I did was wrong.”

“I hate that I did that.”

“I want to do better next time.”

“Next time I’m in the same situation…”

Worldly Sorrow vs Godly Sorrow

What it is:

Romans 12, Luke 15, Luke 19, Psalm 38:18

Redirection of the mind

Remorse in the emotions

Rsponsibility without excuse

Recognition of my broken condition

Request to be forgiven

Reorientation of our affections

Resolution to a new path

How God brings us to Repentance?

The preaching of God’s Word

1 Thessalonians 1:5-10

The goodness of God’s character

Romans 2:4

The sorrows of life

2 Samuel 12

The emptiness of this world

Luke 15:17

Take it Home:

  • What does repentance truly mean in the context of our relationship with God? Consider Acts 3:19 & 2 Cor 7:10

  • How does the gift of repentance reflect the boundless love and mercy of our Heavenly Father in Psalm 103:8-12 & Eph 2:4-5?

  • Reflect on instances in your life when repentance has brought about transformation and restoration like in Psalm 51:10 or Luke 15:17-24.

  • Explore the stories of individuals in Scripture who experienced profound repentance. Psalm 32:5 and Luke 22:54-62

  • How can the concept of repentance influence the way you approach your daily interactions and relationships, whether in retirement or in your workplace? Reflect on specific instances where embracing repentance can lead to reconciliation and restoration in your interactions with others.
