ACTS 29: 50 DAYS OF PRAYER – DAY 27 – 2/12/2019
An audience of one
“They arrived in Caesarea the following day. Cornelius was waiting for them and had called together his relatives and close friends.” (Acts 10:24, NLT)
It’s a preachers problem…we always want more people to hear what we feel God has given us to say. Even the best of pastors have to fight against their own ego when it comes to this. We usually try to spiritualize it – “Of course we want more people to come because we have Good News!”
What we see in Acts though is that the Apostles sought to serve God…not their church…not their city…not the faithful…but God. They had an audience of one mentality and God moved in the hearts of others in order to draw them to hear His Good News.
It makes me wonder how much more of a platform we would have if we were only concerned with God’s purpose. How would that change our witness as a secretary, a nurse, a farmer, an accountant, a computer tech, a programmer, a fisherman, a carpenter, an administrator, etc? If we sought to have an audience of God only, who would he put us in front of – that they might hear?
