ACTS 29: 50 DAYS OF PRAYER – DAY 25 – 2/8/2019
“As for Philip, an angel of the Lord said to him, “Go south down the desert road that runs from Jerusalem to Gaza.” So he started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship,” (Acts 8:26–27, NLT)
I have been encouraging our churches to share insights they may have gained in their time of prayer. I am beginning to think that we look for miss the quiet whisper of God while looking for mountain moving proclamations.
Could it be?
We see in today’s reading that often times when God is at work, we don’t have to go “all the way”. Often times, God brings people to meet us. Like Philip, he wasn’t sent to Ethiopia, he was sent to meet a man from Ethiopia.
Often times we misunderstand God’s call on our life – or God’s speaking to us – not because we aren’t listening…but because we expect God to only call us to MAJOR things. When actually the major things of God start with very reasonable obedience to reasonable expectations which God magnifies to irrational ends.
Who would of thought that this Jewish man would lead an Ethiopian to faith in Jesus? Now many people, but God certainly knew what was possible through faithful obedience.
Speak Lord, your church is listening!
